David’s Rice Krispie Easter Nests

Gluten free Dairy Free Easter Baskets / Nests

David’s Rice Krispie Easter Nests are a fun and delicious treat to make during the spring season. They are easy to make and perfect for Easter celebrations. Our recipe is gluten free and dairy free and simply delicious.

To make the nests, you will need Rice Krispies cereal, marshmallows, dairy free butter, and mini eggs or another gluten free and dairy free treat for topping!

To begin, melt the dairy free butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted. Remove the pan from the heat and add the Rice Krispies cereal, stirring until the cereal is coated with the marshmallow mixture.

Using a spoon or your hands, form the mixture into small nest shapes on a piece of wax paper. Press your thumb into the center of each nest to create a small indentation. Allow the nests to cool and set for about 30 minutes.

Once the nests have cooled, place a few mini eggs into the center of each nest. You can also add some green sprinkles or shredded coconut to make the nests look more like a bird's nest!

David’s Rice Krispie Easter nests are a fun and tasty treat that kids and adults will both enjoy. They are perfect for Easter parties or as a sweet snack to enjoy during the spring season.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons butter

220g marshmallows small or chopped large ones

110g Gluten Free and Dairy Free Rice Krispies cereal (plain or chocolate)

For Decoration:

Gluten free, Dairy free chocolate eggs or jelly beans

Sprinkles (optional)

Coconut (optional)

Runny Icing for centre of nests (optional)

Method:

To make rice krispie nests, start by greasing the cups of a muffin pan with a little oil or cooking spray.

Next, melt some butter in a large pan over medium/low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted.

Remove the pan from the heat and pour in the rice krispies. Stir the mixture until the cereal is thoroughly coated.

Spoon the mixture into the muffin pan, forming it into a nest shape by creating an indentation in the middle. To make this easier, you can use a spoon that has been lightly greased with butter or oil.

Allow the mixture to cool completely in the pan before removing it.

To decorate, simply top the nests with your favourite sweet treat. Alternatively, you can use icing, sprinkles or coconut to give the nests an extra special touch!

Additional Notes:

Ensure that the muffin tin is greased properly.

Create a well in the nest while the rice crispy treats are still warm. You can do this using your fingers or by using a lightly oiled or buttered spoon.

The treats should be completely cooled before removing from the muffin tin. You can speed up the cooling process by placing them in the fridge.

Make sure that the marshmallow is mixed thoroughly with the butter before adding the rice krispies to get an even texture throughout the treats.

I have auto-immune diseases and expected to be on medicine for the rest of my life, but I didn't want to live like that. My rheumatology Doctor was so supportive of the change I wanted to make, and with their help, I now manage my auto-immune diseases by being strict with my diet.

It can be quite frightening when you first find out you have to change the way you eat but for some of us' Food is our medicine.'

I have several websites, write blogs, and I'm currently in the process of writing a book.

I trained to be Holistic Health Coach, Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher and Certified Gluten Free Practitioner in order to heal myself, my family and others who find themselves on the same journey as myself.

Now you can purchase them online directly from us.
