Marshmallows, Chocolate and Sprinkles

Chocolate Dipped Marshmallows

Chocolate Dipped Marshmallows

If I want to get my youngest to cook I tell him that sprinkles are involved! This is a simple recipe for the children, and great at using up sprinkles! Great for a party or just because you need that sweet treat or time with the children. This is also a great way to use up any chocolate that is in the fridge!

Ingredients:

Packet of Marshmallows

Dairy-Free Chocolate

Sprinkles

Method:

Line a baking sheet or shallow tin with parchment paper. You will be placing the marshmallows on this so it doesn’t need to be perfect. Just a place for them to cool down.

Either make your own dairy-free chocolate (why not try our recipe) or melt some either in the microwave or my preferred way is as follows.

Put a heatproof bowl on top of a pan which contains hot water. Place over low heat. Make sure it isn’t touching the water and that no steam can escape up the side of the bowl. We don’t want water in our chocolate! Break the chocolate up into small, even pieces and add to the bowl. The smaller the chocolate pieces, the quicker they will melt.

Once the chocolate is melted place a marshmallow into the chocolate. You can either place it completely in and use a fork to remove it to just cover the top of the marshmallow (our preferred method). If you have submerged your marshmallow then tap it against the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.

For young hands place the marshmallows on skewers and use these to dip the marshmallows into the chocolate.

Place the covered marshmallows onto the prepared baking sheet.

Whilst the chocolate is still melted, cover with sprinkles of your choice. This is another reason to use a baking sheet as it catches the flying sprinkles!

Place the marshmallows in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to let the chocolate set.

Additional Notes:

Try different chocolate and see what you prefer - dairy-free white chocolate perhaps?

Add some flavouring to the chocolate such as peppermint and then top with crushed peppermint candy (great for Christmas).

Be adventurous with your toppings, sea salt, coconut, candy or simply more chocolate!

Emma Alexander-Cook

My name's Emma. I've been living gluten-free for over 25 years, and I've been dairy-free for over five years.

Health and Auto-immune Diseases

I have auto-immune diseases and expected to be on medicine for the rest of my life, but I didn't want to live like that. My rheumatology Doctor was so supportive of the change I wanted to make, and with their help, I now manage my auto-immune diseases by being strict with my diet.

It can be quite frightening when you first find out you have to change the way you eat but for some of us' Food is our medicine.'

I have several websites, write blogs, and I'm currently in the process of writing a book.

I trained to be Holistic Health Coach, Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher and Certified Gluten Free Practitioner in order to heal myself, my family and others who find themselves on the same journey as myself.

Photography

Our love for photography started on our travels. We wanted to capture images of the areas we travelled to both for our own records and for our family back at home. Some of these images were reproduced as watercolours. Our favourite images we display at home and friends often asked where we had purchased the pictures! Now you can purchase them online directly from us.

Coaching and Consultancy

Previously an IT Manager my skill set has come in very handy as I am both a Health Coach and also offer consultancy for small business starts up and fellow Health Coaches. This has included building websites and online profiles.

Our Family

Family is everything to me! We have a family of four boys where the age difference between the youngest and the eldest is 18 years. Two of our sons are also Gluten Free and Dairy Free. Emma is a Health Coach who specialises in helping individuals and families achieve their health and wellness goals. Ian runs his own business which began developing a Race Timer for diecast model cars.
